The archeological site of the Martinet is located a few steps from the museum. It was listed Historical Monument in 1932. In 1923, Laurent Coulonges, archeologist, discovers hundreds of small silex points, less than a centimiter high. It characterizes a new prehistoric era, called "Sauveterrien" by the archeologist. The path going to this excavation site is punctuated by explanatory boards along the Lémance river, and it is where temporary events organized by the museum take place.
Plunge into time... and try out an amazing journey across prehistory and science, at the heart of SauveTerre Prehistory Museum. Observe, touch, listen, feel... Play the scientist and explore our ancestors' universe thanks to models, facsimiles, touch screens, videos, taxidermies...
The adventure goes on, if you want, outside, along the prehistoric path, to the archeological site. A "prehisto" discovery to share with your family, as from now !

Opening time

Subject to schedule.
From April 15 to 26: Monday to Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
From July 1 to 14: every day (except Saturday and July 14) from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
From July 15 to August 18: every day (except Saturday, August 15 and Sunday morning) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
From August 19 to August 30: every day (except Saturday) from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
From October 21 to October 31: Monday to Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Open for groups all year round, by reservation.
